Emma Waters
Policy expert in reproductive health, writer, and host of Rethinking Fertility.
The solution to the modern fertility crisis begins with asking the right questions.
- Do you feel like you’re on a conveyor belt of one-size-fits-all care?
- Have you sat across from a fertility doctor and felt pushed toward IVF?
- Are you an evangelical and wrestling with what a truly pro-life position demands of you?
- Have you already been through IVF and you’re still processing the embryos you created, the ones you lost, or what to do next?
- Is someone you love is in the thick of it and you want to show up for them well?
You’re in the right place.
I’m Emma Waters, host of Rethinking Fertility, policy analyst at a leading Washington, DC think tank, contributor to World Magazine, and author of Lead Like Jael and the forthcoming book Rethinking Fertility (Crossway Publishing). I’m married to Jack, a seminarian and future pastor, and we have two beautiful daughters with a third one due in August 2026.
For years I’ve committed my life to shifting the conversation on reproductive technology toward truly innovative, life-affirming, and restorative solutions. My favorite part of working in public policy is learning from the smartest people in this field–from fertility basics, the Wild West of surrogacy, rethinking IVF, and gene editing and selection, to prioritizing the root causes of infertility and reproductive health. I want to share all of it with you.
In 1973 when the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, many Christians didn’t know where they stood on abortion. Decades later, that same group is the backbone of the pro-life moment.
I believe that 2024 was for IVF what 1973 was for the issue of abortion: a wake up call to start rethinking fertility and our unchallenged assumptions about the fertility industry. If we’re being honest, we haven’t been consistent when it comes to our support for IVF and other reproductive technologies. We uphold that life begins at conception, and yet turn a blind eye to a fertility industry that routinely creates, selects, and destroys human life.
It’s time to rethink fertility.
